Historical Society Hosts Silver Jewelry Presentation

The Jefferson County Historical Society is presenting a talk by Marjorie Marilley Ransom, who authored a book on Yemeni silver jewelry.

The book is "Silver Treasures from the Land of Sheba: Yemeni Regional Jewelry" and Ransom was on 7 News This Morning to talk about it. Click on the picture for her interview.

The talk is from 5 to 7 p.m. on August 14 at the historical society's Paddock Mansion on Washington Street in Watertown.

Ransom spent several years living in a silver market  in Yemen studying Yemeni jewelry. Her book looks at who made the jewelry, who sold it and who owns it.

There will be a reception and hors d'oeuvres at 5 p.m.
