House of the Good Shepherd Offers Foster Parent Training

The House of the Good Shepherd will be holding foster parent training beginning next month.

Jason Hibbard explained that his agency provides foster care in St. Lawrence, Jefferson and Lewis counties

"We've been doing it roughly 20 years, so we're fairly well established in the community," he said.

The 13-week course starts at 6 p.m. September 13 at the House of the Good Shepherd's offices at 26515 State Route 3, just outside Watertown toward Black River.

There is no cost for the course.

Hibbard said the first night is an information session designed to answer any questions people have about becoming foster parents.

"We try to be very concrete with what the expectations are in order to become a foster parent and what joys and pleasures can come of doing it as well," Hibbard said.

People don't have to commit to becoming a foster parent that night, but it gives them a chance to ask questions.
