JCC Holds Writer's Contest

Each year the English Department at Jefferson Community College holds a writer's contest open to all residents and friends of the upstate New York region.

The writers contest is part of the North Country Writers Festival, a weeklong campus event.

The contest is open to all residents and friends of the upstate region.  Past winners will not be considered in the same category.

There are three genres of which submissions must fall under- poetry, short fiction and essay/nonfiction. All entries should reflect a connection to the north country.

Three winners will be awarded $100 and online publishing.

Entries that receive honorable mention will receive $25 and online publishing.

The deadline to enter is Friday, September 13, 2013.

Award recipients are requested to give a reading of their winning pieces at the North Country Writers Festival Reading on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at JCC.

Contest requirements including how to enter can be found at www.sunyjefferson.edu.
