JCC Offering Summer Academic Support Programs

Jefferson Community College is offering three academic support programs during the summer to bring new students up to speed and in some cases even get ahead - STAR (Strategies to Achieve Results) Summer Bridge Program, L.E.A.D. (Learning Encouragement and Academic Development) Program and a Refresher Program.

Summer Bridge is designed for new students in need of a little extra help beyond typical college assistance.

Participants of Summer Bridge gain insight on what to expect at college before the fall semester begins.

They receive full ongoing STAR program benefits including professional tutoring, academic advising, counseling; a computer lab, a private study area and upon successfully completing the program, students may be eligible for need-based scholarships.

Summer Bridge is Monday through Thursday, July 9 - August 16 from 9 a.m. to 1p.m. at JCC.

Summer Bridge is for new students who meet certain eligibility requirements.

The L.E.A.D. and Refresher Programs are designed to assist incoming students with their academic performance in writing, reading and math in order to retake the college placement exam and possibly test out of developmental courses.

The L.E.A.D. program begins Monday, July 9 and wraps up by August 2.

The Refresher program runs June 4 - 21.

Candidates must have applied and been accepted to Jefferson.
