Run For Recovery Brings Attention To Drunk Driving

The Watertown Urban Mission will hold its 2013 Run for Recovery next month to raise awareness about the dangers of driving while intoxicated.

This year's run will honor the life and memory of Tommy Ivey, who was killed in a drunk driving accident on November 23, 2003 at the age of 27.

His mother, Martha Ivey, and the Urban Mission's Sal Ciulo were on 7 News at Noon on Monday.

The 5th annual event will be held September 7 at the Alex Duffy Fairgrounds.

Registration is at 6:30 a.m. and the walk/run begins at 9 a.m.

There's a choice between a 5K and a 10K course.

There's a free lunch for all walkers and runners.
There will be free face painting, a silent auction, prizes, and a D.J.

Pre-registration is $20 per person and $25 on race day.

All proceeds from the race support the Mission's Bridge Program, which helps individuals facing jail time to address their addictions, make restitution, and get their lives back on track.
