Stewart's Shops is kicking off its holiday match program to benefit children's organization.

The program kicks off Thanksgiving morning. Stewart's Shops will have jugs placed at checkout for customers to drop their extra change into.

It might not seem like much, but it adds up. In 2011 customer donated $700,000. With Stewart's match, the total was brought up to $1.4 million.

The money goes back to the area in which it was donated.

Organizations that want to receive some of the money can apply at any Stewart's Shop.

Applications are also available online at www.stewartsshops.com.

Last year, 1,455 organizations received a share. Around 115 of them were in St. Lawrence, Jefferson and Lewis counties.

Stewart's Shops has given out $16 million since 1986.

The deadline for applications is January 31.
