Studies Show Benefits of Sharing Meals As A Family

Shared mealtimes are not only a family ritual, they're also good for your health.

Studies show that shared mealtimes result in your child being 35% less likely to engage in disordered eating, 24% more likely to eat healthier foods and 12% less likely to be overweight.

Research also shows shared mealtimes can result in significant benefits such as reduced delinquency, greater academic achievement and improved mental health.

Registered dietitian Cathy Moore of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson County appeared on 7 News at Noon Friday to discuss the benefits.
