TV Dinner: Maple Fried Haddock

It's the first Friday of Lent and Chef Chris Manning puts his special twist on the traditional fish fry.

It's maple fried haddock and he pairs it with a spring onion tartar sauce.

Maple Fried Haddock

- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1-1/2 cups plain breadcrumbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 6-ounce pieces of skinless, boneless haddock
- 4 cups canola oil for frying

Mix together the eggs and syrup. Dredge the haddock in the flour, then the egg wash, then bread crumbs.

Fry the fish in the oil and serve with spring onion tartar sauce.

Spring Onion Tartar Sauce

- 1 green onion, minced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon dill relish
- 1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup sour cream

Place all ingredients into a food processor and pulse until smooth.

Served with fried fish, grilled chicken or pork.
