Vatican Official To Celebrate Mass In North Country


More than 2,000 Catholics from across northern New York are expected to pour into Lake Placid on September 29 for a mass which will be celebrated by the pope's personal representative to the United States.

The Solemn Mass for the Year of Faith and the New Evangelization will be held at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid. 

Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano will preside at the 2:30 p.m. liturgy with Bishop Terry LaValley and priests of the diocese concelebrating. 

Bishop LaValley will be the homilist.

Father Scott Seymour, pastor in Morrisonville and Treadwells Mill, will lead a choir of about 300 voices for the liturgy.

Bus transportation from points across the north country has been organized.
