Watertown Urban Mission Gets Ready For Annual Auction

The Watertown Urban Mission's Annual Auction has a fresh look for 2012, including a new location, new format, a sponsor, and a brand new 2012 Dodge Ram Express with a Hemi.

The 4th Annual Auction will feature 100 items for the live auction, including original photography and paintings from local and renowned artists, antique furniture, vintage media equipment, musical instruments, Syracuse China, antique glass, silver home goods, unique collectibles, fun toys, an HD Television, jewelry, and even that antique wooden wheel chair that you've always wanted to complete that unique room in your home.

Plus every hour will feature a mystery box for bidders to win with only a clue about its contents and a guaranteed value inside.

Sponsore FX Caprara Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep on Outer Washington Street has been collecting nonperishable food and personal hygiene items since February for the Mission, giving anyone who donates at the dealership an entry to win a 2012 Dodge Ram with a Hemi.

The food and personal items will go to the Watertown Urban Mission and anyone who enters can win the truck by being present at the drawing at the Auction on April 28 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Anthony's Gymnasium and Bingo Hall.

Along with the live auction and truck drawing, the event will also have a silent auction, raffles, and have plenty of good food available at a concession stand run by St. Anthony's Mt. Carmel Society.

Local community leaders Paul Simmons of AAMCO, Robin Bartlett of Johnny D's, Lynn Brown of WPBS, Dan Osborne of DoCo Printing, and "Uncle Dennis" Schneider of Croghan will be conducting the auction with fun and good humor.

The Watertown Urban Mission brings together community minded individuals, businesses, organizations and churches to help families through difficult times with programs that provide food and drink, offer clothing and other household needs, assist the homeless in finding housing, give the addicted and imprisoned a chance to get their lives back on track, aid the sick with prescriptions and help getting to medical appointments, and more.

With generous donor and volunteer support, the Watertown Urban Mission helps people to rise above difficult circumstances, which, in turn, strengthens our community as a whole.

With only 100 items going into the live auction, the Impossible Dream Thrift Store will hold a "Pre-Auction Sale" with hundreds of items that were set aside for the auction, but didn't make the final cut.

Some of the items available are vintage sewing machines, purses, media equipment, guitars, glassware and much more.

The sale will take place in the Community Room at The Watertown Urban Mission at 247 Factory St., Watertown.
