Story Updated: Sep 16, 2013
Club Vortex is a youth outdoor running club for kids ages six to ten which will meet twice a week for six weeks in Watertown's Thompson Park.
The Watertown Department of Parks and Recreation is starting the running program.
"All kids are natural runners. They have energy, they're quick, so this is something that any kid, regardless of if they're interested in sports are not, would enjoy," said Celia Cook, the department's program manager
The group will meet at the Thompson Park pool house Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning next week.
Club Vortex will offer games and exercises to build strength and endurance.
"We're going to each week have a theme. There's going to be some fun activities - running around the park, a scavenger hunt. We're trying to coordinate with the zoo to run through the zoo," said Cook.
The cost is $5 for city residents and $20 for those who live outside the city.
