Story Updated: May 7, 2012
The Gouverneur Business Women provide money to area breast cancer patients to help them deal with costs associated with the disease.
They also provide pink tote bags to area doctors' offices for women who are diagnosed with breast cancer. The bags are filled with items that breast cancer victims would appreciate during their treatment.
To raise money to help breast cancer patients, the organization is holding its 11th annual breast cancer walk.
The event starts with registration at 8:30 a.m. on May 19 at the Gouverneur Village Park. Opening ceremonies start at 10 a.m.
The walk is noncompetitive, is only about a mile long and ends at Riverside Park, where there will be activities for kids and ceremonies honoring breast cancer survivors.
All money stays local.
