Local Radio Personality Seeking Help To Save Speaking Ability
Story Updated: Feb 7, 2014
Holly Gaskin makes her living as a radio personality.
You probably know her better as "Holly Rivers" on Z93 or "Cricket" on Froggy 97.
Gaskin suffers from the genetic disorder neurofibromatosis or NF.
"It makes tumors grow. It also causes bone deformities, which I'm experiencing right now in my face, my jaw. I have 50 percent bone loss in my jaw. I need reconstructive surgery. It's very painful right now. Most of my teeth are loose and it's getting hard to talk which is obviously how I make my living," said Gaskin.
She doesn't have the money or insurance for Sunshine Dental's $25,000 fee, so she's reaching out to the public.
"I want to have some fundraisers, trying to find venues for benefits. I have a lot of musician friends who have offered to help and play," said Gaskin.
She's hoping that venue will be donated.
She has a small fundraiser is already planned for March 9 at Bistro 108 in Watertown.
