Man Finds Kidney Donor Through 7 News Facebook Page

Story Updated: Dec 12, 2013

Scott Kron will soon be getting the kidney that he asked for on Facebook and a friendship is being formed that will last a lifetime.

Kron and Vangie Yelton just recently met, but to see them together, you would think they had known each other for years.

The connection got started when Vangie saw on Facebook the story we did on Scott's plea for a kidney donor.

"I actually sat down with my husband and said, 'We need to talk. I know that I need to help," said Vangie.

With her husband's support, she contacted Scott and the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo.

Then the testing began.

Vangie ended up being close to a perfect match.

"I couldn't talk. I couldn't text. I couldn't dial the phone number. I was just totally blown away by it," said Scott.

Not only are Scott and Vangie a close match medically, they're also a close match socially.

"We talk every day, several times a day. My husband talks to him. I've become friends with his wife," said Vangie.

Thanks to the power of Facebook and one women's heartfelt gift, Scott could have his kidney before the first of the year and that's truly something to celebrate.

Thank you vangie. I wasn't a match, but I'm so thankful that there is a great person out there like you. What a wonderful gift you have brought to the Kron family...for more wonderful years he can spend with Dar n his kids n grand babies. Prayers for all on this wonderful occasion!

This is great to see, a working man getting help that he needs from a "former" stranger. All scott wants to do is go back to work & serve his community through the fire dept. & grow old with his family. God bless all involved....
