River Hospital Offers New Health Care Option
Story Updated: Apr 11, 2013
With the closest urgent care clinic miles away, River Hospital has opened a convenient care facility.
Unlike urgent care, patients are seen by appointment.
Fifteen year old Justin Levensailor fell and injured his knee, so his mom called convenient care for an appointment.
"They're quick. They're just nice people and it's good care," said Justin's mother, Lisa Rosner.
Convenient care is located on River Hospital's second floor.
Dr. Troy Johnson is River Hospital's Director of Emergency and Inpatient Services.
"We see not only our episodic care patients, we see our follow-ups from discharges from the inpatient unit and we see follow-ups from the emergency department. So those individuals that would have difficulty getting into their primary care provider can get into this clinic to make sure they're getting better, make sure they got their medications and make sure that the follow-ups that the need are getting done," said Dr. Johnson.
Convenient care hours are 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and is staffed daily with a doctor or physician assistant along with Licensed Practical Nurse Marcia Graves.
She says being in a hospital has major advantages.
"You could just go right downstairs. We could have lab work get done. You can go right down to x-ray, go to the emergency room. It's a one-stop package," said Graves.
To schedule an appointment, you can call 482-1125.
If you go to convenient care and don't have your own regular physician, the facility will set up you with a primary care provider at River Hospital's nearby primary care clinic.
