SMC Cancels Elective Surgeries

Story Updated: Jun 3, 2014

Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown cancelled 36 elective surgeries Tuesday.

Spokesperson Krista Kittle said it was due to a problem with some of the equipment which sterilizes surgical instruments.

SMC kept its operating room open for emergency surgeries only.

Patients who were scheduled to have elective surgery were notified of the situation on Monday night.

The problem with the equipment has been resolved and elective surgeries will resume Wednesday.
