SMC To Hold Colon Cancer Month Kickoff Event

March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month.
 
All month long, Samaritan Medical Center, Jefferson Community College and Kinney Drugs are partnering to give out free screening kits.
 
A kickoff event will be 11 a.m. to 2 op.m. March 1 at Samaritan's cafeteria.
 
Dr. Dan DeBlasio of Samaritan's Walker Cancer Treatment Center says colo-rectal cancer is more prevalent after the age of 50.
 
He add the disease is "very common and very curable" and can be caught early with routine colonoscopies.
