A bath time favorite was helping was helping kids pay for summer camp today in Croghan.

Over 6,000 yellow rubber ducks were poured into the river at the Oswegatchie Educational Center for the annual AdironDUCK Race.

Spectators could buy a duck for five dollars and the owner of the first duck to cross the finish line won a $1000 grand prize.

With over 1500 people turning up for the race, the event raised plenty of money for the kids.

"Well, $5 a duck, 6,000 ducks, do the math. That's a pretty good subsidy on summer camp to make the experience open to lots of people across New York," said the Oswegatchie Educational Center's Bill Waite.

The AdironDUCK race is held every year on the last Sunday of April. This is the event's 18th year.
