Chinese Investor Trying to Convince Friends to Follow

A Chinese businessman who's buying up property in the Ogdensburg area is calling the north country the land of opportunity.

James Ma has purchased the former Mater Day college, the old Sholette's steakhouse, and is in the process of buying the Cedars Nursing Home just outside Ogdensburg. The nursing home is on a prime piece of St. Lawrence river waterfront.

Ma says he's working to convince his wealthy Chinese friends to invest in the north country as well:

"China, over the last 30 years, some people accumulated some wealth, and they are seeking opportunities to invest. And, over here, we are hungry for investments," Ma explained.

Ma says he now has his sights set on scooping up property on Whitehouse Bay and Leischman Point in Waddington.
