Jefferson Community College One Step Closer to Getting Dorms

Jefferson Community College is one step closer, to getting dorms on campus.

The college recently put out a request for proposal, in an effort to find a builder for the 270-bed dormitory.

J.C.C. will be accepting bids until the end of April and college officials say they hope to hire local.

"We're basically looking for someone who has a lot of experience in building dorms and providing some of the services that we will need to develop going forward in the future with the dorms.  This is our first time having dorms on campus, so we're new at this and we're looking for someone who can provide us with some of their experience," says Dan Dupee, Vice President for Administration and Finance at the college.

Officials anticipate the dorms will be built on the southwest part of the campus, between the baseball field and the day-care center.

J.C.C. hopes to begin construction in early 2013 and have the dorms open in the fall of 2014.
