Man Held on $100 K Bail, One Dead Following Accident

One man is dead and another is being held on $100,000 bail after an accident last night in Massena.

Massena police say James Berry, 21, hit pedestrian, Edward Remington, 46, with his vehicle Friday night. It happened on East Orvis Street, just west of the Parker Avenue intersection.

Berry is charged with misdemeanor Driving While Intoxicated and Vehicular Assault in the second degree, a Class E felony. Remington was transported by Massena Rescue from the scene for his injuries. According to Saint Lawrence County District Attorney Nicole Duve, Remington succumbed to his injuries and died. Duve's team is waiting on blood results to determine if alcohol was a major factor in the crash.
