Clarkson University Featured in Money MagazineOne of the best ways to offset college costs is to be creative. Now, Potsdam's Clarkson University is getting a nod in Money Magazine's September issue for doing just that. Clarkson student and Clayton native Matthew Turcotte traded 10% of his growing web-design company to Clarkson in exchange for a full tuition scholarship. "Matt essentially has his tuition covered. The university partners to grow the business perhaps faster than he could grow it individually. We receive a return on that investment that offsets the cost of tuition, not just for him, but for other students. It's out-of-the box thinking to try and promote others to think of ways to contain the cost of higher education," says Clarkson University President Anthony Collins. Clarkson is also helping Turcotte grow his business by connecting him with alumni who are interested in hiring his company. |
