Sen. Schumer: Watch out for hidden baggage fees

Easter is traditionally a big weekend for travel, and if you're flying certain airlines, you may be hit with a surprise carry-on baggage fee.

U.S. Senator Chuck schumer says smaller airlines are starting to charge for carry-on luggage - as much as $35 a bag - and he wants the cost clearly identified in the ticket price.

He has called on the U.S. Department of Transportation to require airlines to be upfront about the fees, so customers can make "apples-to-apples" decisions about which carrier is actually offering the cheapest flight.

Major airlines agreed a few years ago to abandon carry on fees.

Right now, Allegiant Air and Spirit Airlines are the only two smaller airlines charging it.
