"Taste of the Town"

More than 40 vendors were on hand at the State Office Building in Watertown Saturday to serve up food at the 10th Annual "Taste of the Town".

Community members had a chance to taste everything from pasta, to wings, to all types of dessert.

Organizers say it takes a lot of time and effort to put on an event like this.

"We're very fortunate to have the generosity of this community in terms of our sponsors that are very gracious to help the Victim's Assistance Center as well as all the restaurants that come out and do this," said Irene Carman, Taste of the Town Chair.

All proceeds from the Taste of the Town event go to the Victim's Assistance Center of Jefferson County.

It's actually the second helping of good funding news for the center this week.

State Senator Patty Ritchie recently announced that the Victim's Assistance Center has also been awarded $30,000 in state funding.

Officials say the much needed money will help as the center continues to grow.

"It gives us the capability to operate our program and keep those services flowing through the advocates that serve our clients, and it's just a tremendous help to us," said Elaina Marra, Executive Director of the Victim's Assistance Center.

Marra says the center has seen an increase in clients over the last three years.
