Update: Two Men, Woman Killed In Pamelia Crash
Two men and a woman were killed Saturday afternoon in a crash just north of Watertown, when a car crossed over the double center line of Route 342 and collided head on with a pick up truck.
Aside from the deaths, the accident injured a toddler and a 64 year old woman. The child was taken by helicopter to a Syracuse hospital. The 64 year old woman was taken to an area hospital, according to a press release from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department Saturday night.
The press release did not say how serious the injuries to either the toddler or the woman were.,
The dead people were identified only as a 25 year old man, a 28 year old man and a 36 year old woman.
The press release didn't specify who was riding in which vehicle, though at the scene of the accident Saturday, it was the car - a1995 Honda - that was covered with a blue tarp, a step usually reserved for fatalities.
According to the sheriff's department, the accident occured when the Honda, which was headed west, crossed the double center line on Route 342 to pass another vehicle. It hit the pick-up, which was headed east.
The accident happened near the intersection of 342 and Route 37. Route 342 between routes 37 and 81 was closed Saturday afternoon and evening.
The sheriff's department said the victims' names would not be released until their families are notified.
State police assisted at the scene, as did the Jefferson County Medical Examiner's office, fire departments from Calcium, Evans Mills, and North Pole, Evans Mills and Guilfoyle ambulances and LifeNet.
The accident occured at 2:22 pm, according to the press release.
