Watertown City Council Preview: Pro-Fluoridation Speaker

At Monday's Watertown city council meeting, the director of the state's bureau of dental health will make his case on why fluoride should stay in the city's water system.

A group of fluoride supporters asked him to speak with city officials about keeping the colorless and tasteless chemical in the water, because it helps fight tooth decay. The city council hopes tomorrow's visit will give them the answers they need.

"I'm looking for more studies," said Councilman Jeff Smith, "What is the difference between fluoridated communities and non-fluoridated communities."

Those on both sides of the issue are expected to be at Monday's meeting.
