Colonel Miller: "Stay On Your Guard, Stay On Your Toes"
The Commander of the 2nd BCT says that familiar enemies and tactics still exist in Iraq, but the soldiers know that vigilance is the first line of defense.
Colonel David Miller says that in its first tour of duty in Iraq, the 2nd BCT lost 54 soldiers, but 3 months into its current tour, no lives have been lost due to combat.
Miller contributes that fact to less frequent attacks, but warns that the soldiers are facing the enemy on a daily basis.
"IEDS, foreign projectiles, sniper attacks, hand grenade attacks on a recurring basis, so they happen...but the challenge is that they don't happen as frequently. The trick is to stay on your guard, stay on your toes and not become complacent."
