Wounded Iraq War Veteran Now Stars In Daytime Drama

A wounded veteran who now is an actor in a daytime network soap opera says his experience has been life changing and given him a new persepective on the human spirit.
 
Jose Martinez was driving a Humvee in Iraq in April 2003 when it hit a landmine.

He suffered burns to more than 40 percent of his body.

After recovering from more than 30 surgeries and skin grafts, he decided to join the Coalition to Salute America's Heroes promoting programs for wounded soldiers.

Martinez was on the Clarkson University campus Tuesday for a speaking engagement.

Martinez said he decided to pursue a career in acting, potraying the character Brot Monroe on 'All My Children', as a way to help inspire others.
 
Martinez said he is in the process of writing a book on his experiences and one day would like to host his own television show and pursue acting in a motion picture.
