Tools

An alleged U.S. Army deserter from Fort Drum was arrested Monday after he was found hiding in a western New York home.

State police say that with help from Wyoming County sheriff's deputies, they found 19 year old Andrew Cox hiding upstairs in a home in the town of Pike.

Troopers say he had a small amount of marijuana when he was taken into custody.

He was charged with the federal felony of military desertion and an unlawful possession of marijuana violation.

He was taken to Wyoming County jail to await extradition to Fort Drum by military police.

He was issued a ticket to answer the marijuana charge in Pike town court at a later date.
