Tuesday's stabbing of a soldier on Fort Drum appears to have been an accident.

An official with the Army's Criminal Investigation Command said the male soldier suffered a knife wound on Tuesday.

"All available information and evidence at this point indicates there was no foul play involved and the incident was accidental," said CID Chief of Public Affairs Chris Grey in an email.

No information about how the soldier was injured was released.

Fort Drum officials, who would not release the name of the soldier, said he has returned to active duty.

On Tuesday, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department said emergency personnel were called to 10614 5th Armored Division Drive following a report of a stabbing.

Fort Drum said the soldier was injured at a barracks on post.
