The 10th Combat Aviation Brigade was welcomed home from Afghanistan on Wednesday with a special gift.

Canadian artist Silvia Pecota spent a week with the brigade in Afghanistan back in November.

She took pictures of the soldiers and used them to make a digital composition.

The artwork was then presented to commander Colonel David Francis before the brigade's uncasing ceremony.

Pecota says she wanted to show the hard work soldiers contributed while deployed.

"Behind the scenes there's mechanics and there's computers and there's cooks and there's clerks and I wanted to find a way of incorporating all the different jobs," said Pecota.

The 10th Combat Aviation Brigade uncased and unfurled its flags to mark a successful return home.
