Bikers Raise Money to Support the Troops

A little rain couldn't keep the motorcyclists off the streets of the North Country today.

The Black River American Legion Riders took the streets to raise money for the USO Fort Drum.

Nearly 70 riders in all took part in the event.

Organizers and riders say this gives them a chance to give back to the soldiers.

"We do it because we want to give back to the community. The community helps the soldiers out a lot and the Fort Drum USO - all volunteers that work it, no government money given to them - it's all through charities," said event organizer Luther Farnsworth.

"It's to serve the people who serve us, the soldiers who put their lives on the line and take care of America, we want to take care of them," said rider Donna Martel.

Last year's ride for the Autism Society of Carthage raised over $5,000.
