Feedback: Soldier Needs Home Repaired Before Quintuplets Arrive

It looks like a normal two-story house on Boyd Street in Watertown.

But walking up stairs to the second floor, you see that looks can be deceiving.

"We have doorways that can't handle the weight of the walls, windows that aren't installed correctly," said homeowner Esdras Lucero.

Esdras and Jessica Lucero say this mess was caused by a contractor hired to fix up the house.

According to the couple, the work was to be completed while Esdras, a soldier, was deployed.

"I'm calling back, getting updates and he's telling me, 'The house is going to be done. It's making progress. I installed this, this and this.' I come back from Afghanistan - nothing," said Esdras, who is a member of Fort Drum's Warrior Transition Unit.

So, without enough money to repair the mess, the couple has been confined to only a portion of the house.

And one more thing - they're expecting quintuplets this spring.

With room in the house about to become even more limited, Esdras turned to his commanding officers for help.

"My biggest worry is these babies come into the world not having a home," said Sergeant Steven Baugher, Esdras' commanding officer.  "I'm working with various organizations, trying to secure funds to rehab the structure, this home, for the Luceros."

The goal is to make upstairs and downstairs of the house a home again.

As for the contractor, 7 News is not identifying him because we have been unable to reach him despite several attempts.
