Flags Fly At Half-Staff For Fallen Fort Drum Soldier
Flags were lowered to half-staff Thursday in honor of a fallen Fort Drum soldier.
Specialist Kerry Danyluk of Cuero, Texas, was wounded April 12 when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire in Pul-e-Alam, Logar Province in Afghanistan.
He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment of the 10th Mountain Division's 3rd Brigade Combat Team.
He died in Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany on April 15 from his injuries.
"On behalf of all New Yorkers, I extend sincere condolences to the family and friends of Specialist Kerry Danyluk," Governor Cuomo said. "We are saddened at the death of this young soldier, and we join with his fellow soldiers at Fort Drum in honoring his service to our nation and in mourning his loss."
