Flags Fly At Half-Staff For Fort Drum Soldier

Flags flew at half staff across New York Wednesday in honor of a Fort Drum soldier.

Private First Class Mariano Raymundo died in Afghanistan last Friday.

The military has not said how he died.

His death is under investigation.

Raymundo was a member of the 210th Brigade Support Battalion, part of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 10th Mountain Division.

PFC Raymundo was from Houston, Texas.

"On behalf of all New Yorkers, I extend my condolences to the family, friends and fellow soldiers of PFC Raymundo," Governor Andrew Cuomo said. "We will honor the service of this Fort Drum soldier and we are grateful for this commitment to our country."

Governor Cuomo has directed that the flags on all state buildings be lowered to half-staff in honor of and in tribute to the state's service members and those stationed in New York who are killed in action or die in a combat zone.
