Fort Drum Observes Veterans Day

The nation will observe Veterans Day on Monday, but Fort Drum got a jump on things by holding a ceremony on Thursday.

During the observance, there was a chance to salute veterans young and old and pay tribute to vets who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Speakers spoke from the heart about what it means to be a veteran.

"A veteran is an ordinary and yet an extraordinary human being - a person who gave some of his or her life's most vital years in the service of country," said Col. Michael Plummer (Ret.).

Among those in attendance were original members of the 10th Mountain Division.
