The Department of Defense announced Thursday that a Fort Drum unit will be deploying to Afghanistan as part of the upcoming rotation of forces.

The 10th Combat Aviation Brigade of the 10th Mountain Division are scheduled to leave this spring, according to the Pentagon.

The brigade, which consists of roughly 2,200 personnel, will provide aviation support.

"The 10th CAB has anticipated a mission to Afghanistan and has aggressively trained at all levels," said COL David J. Francis, the commander 10th Combat Aviation Brigade. "We are prepared and ready for this deployment."
