Gen. Terry Takes On New Role In AfghanistanA former Fort Drum general has taken command of the unit responsible for the day-to-day planning and operations of the coalition efforts in Afghanistan. Lt. Gen. James Terry has assumed command of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Joint Command. Terry will also serve as deputy commanding general of the U.S. forces in Afghanistan. Terry was commanding general of Fort Drum's 10th Mountain Division from September 2009 to November 2011. He was also deputy commanding general from 2004 to 2007. Terry is no stranger to Afghanistan. Wile with the 10th Mountain Division, he was commander of ISAF Regional Command South from October 2010 to October 2011 and was deputy commander for Combined Joint Task Force-76 from Januiary 2006 to February 2007. Terry is commander of V Corps, based in Wiesbaden, Germany. He takes over from Lt. Gen. Curtis Scaparrotti. Most Popular |
