General Milley To Leave Fort Drum Command

A year after taking command of Fort Drum, Major General Mark Milley is moving on.

Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta announced Thursday that President Obama has nominated Milley for a new job and a promotion.

Milley would be appointed to the rank of lieutenant general.

He would also be assigned as commanding general for III Corps and Fort Hood in Texas. 

Milley took over command of Fort Drum in November 2011.
