In a message on the Facebook page the family has used to communicate updates about Jenna, the following message was posted at 7 p.m.:

"To Jenna's many devoted followers, today our hearts are broken. We are devastated to inform you that Jenna has suddenly passed away after a courageous two month fight against cancer. We will be keeping this post short and may not post again right away, as we are not journalists or paparazzi, but two of Jenna's best friends who are mourning an indescribable loss.

"We kindly ask that Jenna's family and loved ones have the opportunity to mourn with privacy. Jenna fought this disease with everything she had and we are so proud of her amazing courage and for blessing the world with two precious little angels. Until we meet again, we love you, gorgeous girl."

"I didn't doubt her for one minute," Jenna's friend Emily McMillan said in a phone interview. "She fought as hard as she could and she has always been a fighter and she gave this her all, right to the end."

Jenna's twins, Kinleigh and Azlynn, are with her mother.

"Jenna's mother is wonderful and they're with her now and they have a loving, supportive family and they're going to be very loved little girls," McMillan said.

After giving birth to her twins prematurely in March, Jenna was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer related to the pregnancy called choriocarcinoma.

Jenna was in a medically induced coma in a Syracuse hospital for much of the period that followed, appeared to be getting better, but Sunday was reported to have taken a turn for the worse. Supporters and family said she was fighting pneumonia.

Her husband, Sgt. Brandon Hinman, is a 10th Mountain Division soldier.

Jenna's story drew support from thousands of people.
