Luncheon Recognizes Armed Forces

More than 300 members of the local civilian and military communities sat down for lunch Wednesday to recognize the men and women of the armed forces.

The Greater Watertown North Country Chamber of Commerce and Noon Rotary Club sponsor the annual Armed Forces Day Luncheon.

Guest speaker Colonel Richard Clarke of the 10th Mountain Division said the event is a great example of civilian support for the military.

"I've been in the military 28 years. This is my 17th different location...and I've never seen a relationship like this at any other military post," he said.

The salute to the military continues with the annual Armed Forces Day Parade in Watertown.

It starts at Watertown High School, travels down Washington Street to Public Square.

The parade begins at 10 a.m. Saturday.
