A Fort Drum man faces menacing and weapon charges after he allegedly pointed a rifle at another man.

State police arrested 26 year old Vincent Herzog on Wednesday.

Police said they were called to 43876 State Route 3 in Natural Bridge for a menacing complaint between Herzog and guest, Maurice Palmer, who were at the residence to help Herzog's former roommate, Dominic Foster, secure his personal property from the residence.

According to police, Herzog wanted Palmer to leave the apartment and when Palmer refused, Herzog went into his bedroom and retrieved an unloaded rifle, pointed it at Palmer and demanded that he leave the apartment.

During the course of the investigation, police said they learned that Herzog possessed two handguns without a pistol permit.

Herzog, who police identified as a soldier, was charged with second-degree menacing and two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

He was arraigned in Wilna Town Court and remanded to the Jefferson County Jail in lieu $1000 cash bail.
