This summer, kids can enjoy great food and good times with friends at a Summer Food site right in their own neighborhood. The Summer Food Service Program provides free, nutritious meals to all children under 18. Parental supervision required for children under 15. Come join the fun! In My Shoes” Encore Performance

-Free Admission, Open to the Public
Join the advanced Drama students at Indian River High School for an encore performance of “In My Shoes”. The original docu-drama, written by Playwright-In-Residence Craig Thornton, tells the true stories of the teenagers of the 10th Mountain Division, in their own words, about the effects of parental deployment on their every day lives It is unflinchingly honest, both sad, happy, and, ultimately, patriotic. The June 10th performance received a standing ovation and an award from TANYS (Theater Association of New York State). But, due to event conflicts, such as the Military Ball and Relay for Life, many people interested in seeing the show were unable to attend, so this special performance is being brought to Fort Drum! Running time is approximately 65 minutes.
 
2011 Army Arts and Crafts Contest Submissions

Operation Yellow Ribbon Rally, Music, and Fireworks

-Rain date: July 6
North Country residents are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to Thompson Park, Watertown, to participate in a community rally in support of our nation’s Military Forces and Families, then enjoy the music of Fred and the Eds starting at 6:30 followed by Symphony Syracuse playing patriotic favorites, and finish off your night with the 1812 Overture complete with cannon blasts. Made in New York Festival

A new festival, “Made in New York,” will make its way to the village in July, featuring goods, produce and music native to the state, as 2011 marks the end of two annual community festivals. The one-day event, to be hosted by Lawler Realty LLC and the Society for the Preservation of Madison Barracks, will raise funds for Meals on Wheels of Greater Watertown. Wirlwind and Blue Coup will perform beginning at 4 p.m., while Spin Doctors take the stage at 7 p.m.

Learn how to cut glass, experiment with shapes, placement and the complete fusion process. Your first project will be a small bowl which will teach you all of the skills to create plates, bowls, or ornaments. Cost of $30 includes instruction, supplies, and firing fee.
