BOSS Takes You to the Movies

Boss will supply transportation to and from the REEL TIME Theater on Fort Drum. Soldiers mush call at least one hour prior to the movie time to schedule a pick up. Soldiers being transported in a BOSS vehicle will be given a discounted admission to the movie and a REEL TIME Express Voucher from the EXCHANGE. Month of the Military Child Carnival and ID & Safety Day
-1 p.m.-4 p.m.
April is Month of the Military Child and Fort Drum has events to honor those young heroes. CYS Services offers a carnival for children in grades one through five in the Youth Center gym. Food, an inflatable bounce house, and games are some of the fun offered. ACS is also on hand with their Child Identification and Safety event. A teddy bear clinic will give free checkups to fuzzy stuffed friends, the Tooth Fairy, Pluggy the Fire Plug and McGruff the Crime Dog will be ready to meet your child, and Emergency Services will assist families in completing child identification packets. Mountain Community Homes Earth Day Celebration

Residents of all ages are invited to celebrate sustainability with crafts, face painting, snacks, and maybe even a special visitor or two. Representatives from Fort Drum and beyond will be on hand to collect rechargeable batteries and provide information about everything from recycling to cloth diapering, so be sure to join in for an afternoon of education AND fun! Mountain Community Homes Recycled Art Contest Entry Deadline
-Artwork must be entered by 10:30 a.m.
Join us at our annual Earth Day Celebration with your recycled artwork! We want to see how creative the kids of Mountain Community Homes can be turning old junk into amazing pieces of art. All artwork must be entered in by 10:30am on April 21st at the Adirondack Creek Community Center, along with an entry form and a copy of the directions on how it was made. There will be four winners selected to receive prizes from Old McDonald’s Farm, Aqua Zoo, Thompson Park Zoo and the Sci-Tech Center!

Family & MWR Abandonded Automobile Auction

Privately owned vehicles that have been abandoned on Fort Drum will be sold at this silent auction. Vehicles can be viewed in the fenced lot at the corner of Euphrates River Valley Road and Oneida Avenue, Fort Drum. All vehicles are sold in as-is condition. Sealed, dated and time-stamped bids of a minimum of $300 will be accepted throughout the week at the viewing lot and at Family and MWR Window on the second floor of Clark Hall between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm April 23 – 27. All sealed bids will be opened on May 2 then high bidders will be called. Winning bidders must pay for and remove vehicles from the lot by May 8. Carthage Bears Football & Cheerleading Signups

The Carthage Bears Pop Warner football and cheerleading teams will hold signups from 6 to 8:30 p.m. April 25 at the West Carthage Fire Hall. Both teams are open to students 5-12. Students wishing to sign up should bring their birth certificate, copy of most recent grades, and a copy of their physical form if available. The Carthage Bears also are looking for volunteers to serve as coaches, assistants and other miscellaneous positions. In Her Shoes: Living with Domestic Violence

This simulation activity is used to increase awareness of the struggles that women with abusive partners face. The activity illustrates how domestic violence is a community tragedy, not a private problem, the ups and downs a battered woman faces over the course of many years, and shows how we all have a role in the movement to end domestic violence. The GM Military Discount Program, as primary sponsor of the Gary Sinise and the LT Dan Band concert, has events planned for the weekend of Sinise’s visit. On Saturday, April 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. the GM Military Discount Tour Ride and Drive Event will set up shop in front of the Fort Drum Main Exchange offering participants a chance to test drive vehicles and receive a $10 Visa Gift Card. USO Month of the Military Child Ice Cream Social

The USO Fort Drum will host a Month of the Military Child Ice Cream Social on April 28 from 2 to 4 p.m. (or until the ice cream is gone) at the USO Fort Drum, 10502 S. Riva Ridge Loop. There will be games, music, door prizes and, of course, ice cream sundaes! This event is free and open to all military ID card holders and Family Members, first come, first served.

GM Military Discount Tour Pre-Show Display

GM Military Discount display will be set up in front of Magrath Sports Complex. Concert-goers are invited to stop by before enjoying The Lt. Dan Band to view four custom Camaro hoods each depicting one of the four branches of the US Military and “The First Responder” Silverado, a custom airbrushed vehicle depicting images honoring the heroes of 911, all painted by renowned artist, Mickey Harris. Patrons visiting the GM Military Discount Display will receive great giveaways, have fun at the video arcade, and can also enter a drawing for a chance to win a pair of VIP Ticket upgrades to the concert. Fort Drum Family and MWR, The Gary Sinise Foundation, and GM Military Discount Program are proud to present Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band performing at the Fort Drum Magrath Gym. Gary Sinise, the award winning actor best known for his portrayal as LT. Dan in the movie, Forest Gump and as Detective Mac Taylor in the television series, CSI: New York is bringing the whole Lt. Dan Band to rock out Magrath Sports Complex Gym. The Lieutenant Dan Band covers everything from classics to contemporary songs and more. Even tunes from the 40′s big band era. There’s something for everyone and each show highlights the musical diversity of the band, as well as the passion and energy each member brings to the stage.
