Month of the Military Child Carnival and ID & Safety Day-1 p.m.-4 p.m.April is Month of the Military Child and Fort Drum has events to honor those young heroes. CYS Services offers a carnival for children in grades one through five in the Youth Center gym. Food, an inflatable bounce house, and games are some of the fun offered. ACS is also on hand with their Child Identification and Safety event. A teddy bear clinic will give free checkups to fuzzy stuffed friends, the Tooth Fairy, Pluggy the Fire Plug and McGruff the Crime Dog will be ready to meet your child, and Emergency Services will assist families in completing child identification packets. Vehicles can be viewed in the fenced lot at the corner of Euphrates River Valley Road and Oneida Avenue, Fort Drum. All vehicles are sold in as-is condition. Sealed, dated and time-stamped bids of a minimum of $300 will be accepted throughout the week at the viewing lot and at Family and MWR Window on the second floor of Clark Hall between the hours of 8 am and 4 pm April 23 – 27. All sealed bids will be opened on May 2 then high bidders will be called. Winning bidders must pay for and remove vehicles from the lot by May 8. In Her Shoes: Living with Domestic Violence-9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.This simulation activity is used to increase awareness of the struggles that women with abusive partners face. The activity illustrates how domestic violence is a community tragedy, not a private problem, the ups and downs a battered woman faces over the course of many years, and shows how we all have a role in the movement to end domestic violence.
