Must See Video: Fort Drum's 'Functional Fitness'
You may think you know what a workout is.
But chances are, you have never done anything like the training soldiers are doing at the new 'functional fitness' center on Fort Drum.
Aside from some fairly extreme workout techniques - flipping tires, pushing weighted sleds, climbing Jacob's Ladders - there is also training in hand to hand combat.
A partial list:
"Boxing techniques, kick-boxing techniques, takedowns, fighting with a weapon, two on one, fighting people off of you," says Staff Sergeant Zachary Foust, as he ticks off some of what the soldiers are learning.
"It's very relevant to the battlefield today."
