New BOSS Lounge Opens on Fort Drum

A new facility on Fort Drum is making single soldiers feel at home.

Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers, known as BOSS, opened up a lounge on the Army post Friday.

The lounge offers a place to kick back and enjoy video games or movies.  It also has a kitchen and equipment for grilling.

SGT Bradley Johnson, BOSS President, says it's meant to give single soldiers a home away from home:

"It's to pull single soldiers out of the barracks, and to show them that the Army is a big family, and to meet, mingle, and get together with friends, brothers, or sisters within the Army to have a good time and to show them that the Army cares about them," he explained.

The new lounge is at the Jack T. Sweet complex, which is named for a Fort Drum soldier from the North Country who died in combat in 2008.
