'Outlaw Platoon' Shows War From Soldier's Perspective

A former 10th Mountain Division soldier has written a book on his experiences serving in Afghanistan.

Sean Parnell is the author of "Outlaw Platoon." He served in a unit that operated near Afghanistan's border with Pakistan.

"Primarily, the story focuses on my men and how combat affects our modern-day infantry soldier," Parnell said.

"And I wanted to make sure the American people knew about that sacrifice."

He told 7 News At Noon anchor Jeff Cole that he thinks it's important for people to know what it's like for soldiers in a war zone.

"I wanted to give a boots-on-the-ground perspective and I wanted to be as honest as humanly possible," he said.

7 News This Evening anchor Anne Richter has done an extensive interview with Parnell that will be streamed to the 7 News website next week.
