It's a high honor for SUNY Canton.

The school has been named to the 2013 Guide of Top Military-Friendly Colleges and Universities by 'Military Advanced Education' magazine.

One of the big reasons SUNY Canton earned a spot on this year's list, according to a press release from the school, flexible online learning options for service members living stateside and abroad, including those serving in Afghanistan.

Additionally, the SUNY Canton's counseling staff receives regular post-traumatic stress disorder training, former service members can now take advantage of the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP) to help pay for it, and the school hired its first Veterans Affairs Officer this year. This is a shared position with SUNY Potsdam.

The 2013 Military-Friendly Schools Guide will be published in the magazine's December issue.

This is the second time SUNY Canton has made the 'Military Advanced Education' list.
