A sinkhole that's 5 feet wide and 14 feet deep has appeared within a housing development on Fort Drum.

That's according to Megan Klosner, director of property management for Fort Drum Community Homes.

She said the sinkhole was reported Saturday at a home on Edgewood Drive in Rhicard Hills Housing Area on the south side of the post.

It's in the back yard of a home where a soldier lives with his wife and three children, said Klosner.

There were no injuries or property damage.

The sinkhole is cordoned off while GYMO Architecture & Engineering of Watertown evaluates the site.

Klosner said the plan is to excavate the area and backfill the hole with more stable material.
